The ArborCAD-SE manual has been updated in places, especially where it relates to the install custom menu file location procedure.

Version 2.05 of ArborCAD-AE is available for download.

This version contains a few bug fixes and the modification of the Export function to enable export of the 'Tree Density' and 'Bat Roost' fields. The program will also now launch and load a file automatically when a folder based filename is opened.

The ArborCAD-AE manual has been updated in places, especially for the install custom menu file location procedure.

The Windows  "Vista situation" is still to be resolved. It seems likely that using ArborCAD with the AutoCAD 2006/2007 Full versions (using automation - direct connection) may not ever be resolved due to differences in the operating system. However, I am fairly confident that all versions of AutoCAD, including 2006/2007 (Full and LT) will be able to plot to ArborCAD using script plotting. The main problem is the automation connection with the 2006/2007 full versions. 

Version 2.08 of ArborCAD-SE is available for download. This version has been updated to enable Script Plotting on Full AutoCAD programs.

To initiate this option, you need to enter the AutoCAD Setup Window (from within ArborCAD) and upon its exit, it will offer to transfer the Custom Menu files. This allows Full Version Users to plot with a choice of modes. Script Plotting can draw faster than Automation but does lack some functions which only Automation can provide. Manual plotting is faster with Automation. Script Plotting also permits Canopy Hatch plotting. If you are experiencing connection problems (with Automation) with Vista then script plotting is now available as a backup.

Version 2.06 users need only upgrade to this version if they wish to use the above functions.

Version 2.02 of ArborCAD-AE is available for download. This version contains a number of obscure bug fixes and added Analysis functions.

Vista Compatibility.

My vista laptop has arrived and after removing McAfee and countless other pre-installed items clogging up the desktop my first impressions are positive. Vista is glossier, sweeter and very fast on the dual-core Pentium.

ArborCAD-AE runs without problem, as does AutoCAD 2008LT. The AutoCAD 2002 Full version also runs fine and ArborCAD-AE can establish a connection and plot without problem. Further testing of the later Full versions are yet to be carried out. If anyone is using the Full AutoCAD versions (2005/2006/2007/2008) on Vista with ArborCAD please send me an email. I would appreciate your views.

Therefore, if you have the Vista operating system with a Full version (non-LT) of AutoCAD 2004/2005/2006/2007/2008 running, then ArborCAD is not guaranteed to be able to connect with these until I receive verification.

Version 2.01 of ArborCAD-AE is available.

This includes a field addition to the tree edit screen to enable a Bat Roost status to be recorded for each tree. This has been added to maintain compatibility with the PDA data collection software which is still under development.

Problem Items under current Investigation

Users of the Full version of AutoCAD can not use the 'plot a canopy hatch' option.

Full AutoCAD users may experience connection problems using the Vista operating system.

ArborCAD is now renamed as ArborCAD-SE  (standard edition).

The ArborCAD-AE (advanced edition) manual is now available for download and the programs pricing has been published. Existing ArborCAD registrations can be upgraded at a reduced fee.

Version 2.07 of ArborCAD is available for download. You only need to download this if you intend to use AutoCAD 2008 LT otherwise there are no changes.

Version 2.00 of ArborCAD-AE is available to download. This has a few minor bug fixes. I expect more to appear in the coming weeks!

ArborCAD and ArborCAD-AE has been tested with the new AutoCAD LT 2008 and works fine.   

However, I have not tested it with the Full version of AutoCAD 2008.

The new version of ArborCAD is now complete and is called ArborCAD-AE (Advanced Edition).  Testing is not yet fully completed but it is in a usable state. The manual is currently being compiled and will hopefully be available in a few days.

Please Note: ArborCAD AE is NOT a free upgrade. It is a NEW program based upon ArborCAD.

Registrations for ArborCAD AE are not available yet and its pricing is yet to be finalised but existing ArborCAD owners will be able to Purchase the New Program Registration at a lower fee.

Version 2.06 is now available. This version is a quick fix for two recently discovered bugs as follows:

• The first bug related to the plotting of trees with no category defined within the schedule where the program may crash.
• The second bug relates to the default font file 'txt' which is causing problems with 2007 versions of AutoCAD. This is now changed to 'arial'. Remember, you can of course change the font to anything you wish from within AutoCAD once the layers have been installed.

No other changes have been made. Most users will not need to install this version.

Version 2.05 is now available which enables detection of the exe file in the new AutoCAD 2007 LT program. You only need to download this if you are using AutoCAD 2007 LT. I have tested the program with this 2007 LT version and all seems ok!

A new chapter has been added to the ArborCAD manual dealing with the creation of a filter from an Excel schedule file.

The ArborCAD manual is now compiled as a PDF document for download. This will help me to update the manual quickly in response to further program modifications. The existing manual pages have been removed from the site.
