ArborShadow enables the precise shadow size and location of a small number of trees to be drawn onto a site drawing. The shadows can then be processed (analysed) in relation to a target point or area on the site and a graph produced. The graph displays the percentage of shadow overlap for any day/time of the year. This information can be used as part of an AIA to decide whether or not tree shadows are likely to be an issue of conflict or not.
ArborCAD-AE will draw an approximation of shadow movement for an average day of the year, as defined within BS5837: 2005 5.3.1. This shows the extents of shadowing for the most important days of the year but has to be interpreted carefully. No analysis is available within ArborCAD-AE.
