In this example I have plotted the shadow script on an area away
from the site plan. Note the small circle inside the shadow outline.
The centre of this circle represents the centre of the tree
position. It is included to act as a reference point when moving and
centering the shadow.

Next step is to hatch the shadow by selecting the Hatch command. You
may want to specify a new layer at this stage, I shall use the
existing shadow_plot layer. See your AutoCAD manual for Hatch
instructions but generally you need to first select pick objects,
draw a rectangle around the whole shadow, press enter, choose your
hatch style, and its scale etc. I have chosen a solid hatch style
(below).

Now I must move the whole shadow group to the correct position on the plan. This is carried out using the Move command. When prompted for the source base point you need to use Snap to Circle Centre to centre on to the reference circle (see below).

Then when prompted for the Move objects you select the whole shadow group. And finally, when prompted for the destination base point you again use the snap to circle centre at the the target tree position (see below).

And that's it. One last point is when using a solid hatch it will
obscure all other entities drawn below it, so you will probably need
to change the display order for the hatch. To do this, first select
the hatch entity, and then use the display order selector on the
drop down menus to send the hatch to the back of the drawing so it
lays below all others (as above).
