For Architects, Development companies, Planners etc.
This type of survey is essential when developing a site. It will often be requested by the local planning authority along with a tree constraints drawing (TCP).
The survey process consists initially of a site visit and a survey of the required trees. Each tree is assessed & measured and its dimensions & details recorded using digital handheld PDA equipment. Its position is recorded on a digital drawing. Trees may be individually tagged if their numbers warrant this.
Upon return to my office, the digital data within the PDA is processed using ArborCAD software and a tree schedule of data created for inclusion within the tree report document. The report includes additional useful data and also an appraisal of the stock in general. Additionally, individual comments & recommendations applicable to each tree and which relate to Health & Safety and Statutory obligations are included where necessary.
ArborCAD is also used to draw the tree data directly onto the site CAD drawing as a basis for the TCP. Further modifications are carried out to complete the Tree constraints drawing.
Please note: It is essential to have a topographical survey already carried out by the land surveyors prior to requesting a tree survey as accurate tree positions are essential.
Prices for BS537 surveys (with a TCP) start at £350 (the actual cost depends upon tree numbers and location).
