Download ArborTrail

A demonstration version of ArborTrail can be downloaded for free. The program has a number of functions disabled but will allow you to load and manipulate the demonstration tree listing with map. You can also plot up to 3 trees if required. I recommend you download and try out the demo before purchasing ArborTrail.

Important...

The ArborTrail program requires the installation of the Microsoft .NET framework on your PDA. The .NET framework is a collection of Microsoft resource files which Arbortrail needs to carry out certain functions. If your PDA has Windows 6 or later installed you should not need to install the .NET framework as it is already part of that windows version. On earlier versions you can find out whether the system is already installed by attempting to run ArborTrail or by looking on your PDA to see if it present. To do this, first select the Start button and then Settings; select the System tab and finally Remove Programs. DO NOT ACTUALLY REMOVE ANY PROGRAMS! Just look at the list to see if Microsoft .Net CF 2.0 is listed, if it is then the PDA has the correct framework installed for ArborTrail. Click the Ok button when finished but do not remove anything.

Installing the .NET framework

If your PDA has Windows 6 (or later) running you do not need to install the .NET framework.

Microsoft provide a program which installs the correct version of the .Net framework for your particular PDA.

Important: Read carefully the web page instructions on this link before starting the download. The downloaded .NET file will install to your PC and then analyse your PDA using Microsoft ActiveSync. It will then install the correct .NET file for your PDA Model. Before downloading you must ensure your PDA is connected to the PC with active-sync.

If the above method of installing the .NET is a cause of problems try the following instead.

First you need to determine which version of windows is running on your PDA. To do this select Start > Settings > the System tab > About.

Now select and download the following file which applies to your version. Transfer it to your PDA and open it from there.

Windows 2003 Versions 4.?? Download
Windows 2005 Versions 5.?? Download

Once the file is downloaded you need to transfer the CAB file to your PDA (using ActiveSync, Bluetooth or SD memory card) and then open the file from there (you can open it from within Mydocuments ).

Important
 The above files are downloaded as a special .cab type file type which is used within your PDA. You can not install this file to a PC so when prompted select SAVE and NOT run.

Installing ArborTrail

Once ArborTrail is downloaded you need to transfer the CAB file to your PDA (using ActiveSync, Bluetooth or SD memory card) and then open the file from there (you can open it from within Mydocuments or even the SD card). Remember, this program needs the .NET framework to be installed first on your PDA.
If you already have an ArborTrail program installed on your PDA and are downloading a more recent version, then you must first remove the current version from your PDA by going to Settings/System/RemovePrograms.  Your existing comment, names and preference files should remain intact and not be over written.
